Dr Mark Berry

Description

Mark Berry is a barrister based in Auckland. He specialises in the fields of competition and consumer law.

Mark is a former partner of Bell Gully and Consultant at Chapman Tripp. He has been in practice as a barrister since 2002.

From 2009-19 Mark was Chairman of the Commerce Commission. Since his return to private practice, Mark has acted widely in respect of restrictive trade practices and market study matters. He has also acted in number of merger matters, including acting for NEP in its recent acquisition of OSB from Sky. Mark has also been involved in a range of consumer matters under the Fair Trading and Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Acts. In 2020 he was an Evaluation Panel Member in the Electricity Authority's review of spot market trading conditions.

Mark has published widely in the field of competition law. He was one of the original authors of Gault on Commercial Law and has published in journals in New Zealand, Australia, the US and UK.
