Jo is Assistant Public Defender at the Manukau PDS. She was formerly partner at Meredith Connell, senior lawyer at PDS Manukau and Wellington, Crown prosecutor at the Wellington Crown Solicitor's Office, and seconded to Crown Law Office. Jo started her legal career as clerk to former Chief Justice, Dame Sian Elias, and has worked for the then Solicitor-General David Collins (now the Honourable Justice Collins) and Cameron Mander as Deputy Solicitor-General (Criminal) (now the Honourable Justice Mander). Jo has always practised criminal law: as Crown prosecutor, defence counsel, researcher and lecturer at Auckland and Otago Law Schools.
