Karol Hadlow

Description

Karol started her career as a staff solicitor, mainly in litigation. In 1989 she commenced practice as a barrister; in this role, she has worked predominantly as a legal aid and duty lawyer in the District Court and as a youth advocate in the Youth Court. She became interested in mental health law and applied to be included as a lawyer on the mental health roster.

Karol’s work has leaned towards therapeutic jurisprudence. She has worked as defence counsel in the Homeless Court and the Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Court, and has joined the list of counsel for the ‘subject person’ pursuant to the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988.

Karol is a member, and past co-convenor, of The Law Association of New Zealand’s Mental Health & Disability Law Committee.
